Over the weekend of Feb. 10-11, the executive board of the Georgia Alpha chapter had the opportunity to participate in the Carlson Leadership Academy (CLA) conference. During the conference, they learned from multiple alumni about various skills and opportunities to improve the growth and sustainability of the chapter. Each officer was assigned to a track that was specifically designed for their role in the fraternity, and they were taught how to execute their responsibilities more effectively. The weekend was filled with inspiring speeches and messages from different speakers, which encouraged the officers to further develop their leadership abilities.
Several workshops were held, including ones on the creation of residential learning communities, improving program and planning strategies, and using data analytics with the brotherhood questionnaire to gain a better understanding of the fraternity and its members. During the closing dinner, the Georgia Alpha chapter took home the Donald C. McCleary Excellence in Membership Development Award for its commitment to the fraternity’s principles and phenomenal development programming.
With this newfound knowledge and achievement, the executive board is eager to implement better programming in the future.
